Step one: Learning the Notes - Especially the left hand

The first step in playing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" is to learn the left-hand notes. If you want that jolly groove it's vital you have a strong left hand. Now don’t worry even a beginner can pick this up!

I have created this simple easy peasy video tutorial for beginners so you can play it as fast or slow as you like and keep repeating it till you get it.

Once you have an idea of where the notes are located on the piano keyboard, it's time to start practising.

Step Two: Introduce the voice to your left hand

Concentrate on keeping your left hand even and consistent while singing the song. It's always best to introduce the voice before you learn to play with both hands, as it integrates the voice straight away and makes it easier in the long run!

This will also help improve your accuracy and control when playing faster tempos down the line. As you get more comfortable with slower tempos, gradually increase the speed until you feel confident enough to play it at full speed.

Step Three: Adding The Right hand

Once you've mastered singing with your left hand, why not take it one step further and add the right hand by simply playing the chord of C in your right hand at the same time as every note you play with your left hand.

Just remember to focus on keeping a steady rhythm as you play—that's half of what makes singing along so much fun!

Conclusion:

If you only learned one carol this year, this is the best one to sing with your family and friends. It's simple and short and will be a great party favourite for all. It's also an excellent way for beginner piano vocalists to practice and is perfect for improving your left-hand technique while having tons of festive fun. So grab your sleigh bells (or piano keys) and get ready for some holiday cheer! Happy Holidays!
